some romney voters said hey, yeah, we should raise taxes on the rich. it seems there's a passionate fwrup of far right conservatives who are saying we don't want to raise taxes on the rich. and they seem to have an outsized amount of power in this discussion. because they are against compromise. they are super passionate. they will primary people who go against them and vote them out of office. is it that we have this passionate small minority that is kind of holding the whole process hostage to use a word from last term? >> i'm not sure it's a passionate small minority. i mean, it's the majority of the party. it's a core principle for the gop. it's one of the -- really one of the few core principles in kind of the post-cold war and post social issues kind of part of politics right now that brings them all together. it's very important for them to not have high taxes. what we're seeing right now is sort of, i think, and it's been a conjecture, but the orthodoxy on taxes which is very well enforced and policed by groups that, as you say, will primary republicans. the kind of core on

recall hearing all the time, you know, mitt romney and the republicans going after obama for that $700 billion in medicare cuts. wellç you know why he was sayi that? because obama and the affordable care act cut medicare by $700 billion. they did it in a very careful way. they did it in a way to protect beneficiaries and responsible. they faced up. they said medicare does need to be trimmed. we need to do it in a smart way and did this. >> why is it off the table now? >> well, precisely because they did -- took that step. they took that very big step and now everyone -- now the idea's, all right, we took the found cut and starting the experiments now. let's see how they work. there's a very good chance, in fact, we are seeing signs that some of them are starting to save some money. we cut $700 billion. we have these pilot programs going forward. let's watch. we have taken enough out of medicare for now and see how the experiments go. if they work out and if a few of them work out, we'll get bigger shape and in better shape fiscally. >> the line in the sand of the president is not don

and the presidential race and you had mitt romney up through to laexz day and took heat over that. i wonder going forward, have you taken any steps or are you planning to take any steps sort of in response to what happened in your polls this year? >> oh, yeah. we're constantly reviewing what we do when it comes to election polling, and actually our final polling results were fairly close within the margin of errors with most other polls where the popular vote would be. we're constantly review election polling which is a complex animal as you know. we are reviewing procedures in what we do. if there's something we should tweak or change before the next election rolls around, we'll certainly do it. >> thanks, frank. straight ahead, which lawmakers fight hardest for your family?
